Helping Hands, Year-Round
As we move through October and into November, it’s easy to see signs of the holiday season ahead — lights going up, local stores preparing for Christmas, and families beginning to plan for the months ahead. But the truth is, the need in our community doesn’t come only once a year. It’s something many faces month after month.
Food banks across our city, including the Weston Area Emergency Support and North York Harvest, continue to serve more families than ever before. Rising costs have stretched many households thin, and for some, even the basics have become difficult to manage.
If you can, please take a moment to look around. Maybe there’s a neighbour, a senior, or a young family who could use a hand. A few cans of soup, a box of cereal, or simply taking the time to donate can make a big difference.
This isn’t about the season — it’s about our shared responsibility as neighbours. The people who call Emery home have always stepped up when it mattered most. Let’s keep that spirit alive as we head toward the holidays and beyond.
