Emery Village BIA Executive Director’s message - August 2026

Dear Emery,

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and enjoying the holidays. As we near the end of August, we all know what is just around the corner: school will be reopening, and I want to encourage every student to make the very best out of their upcoming school year.

To all residents driving through the area, please be extra mindful of school safety zones and practice road safety as our kids head back to class.

I would also like to bring to the attention of our business members that, in collaboration with SafeTO, a member of our team will be walking through the BIA to collect updated information and conduct a brief survey. Please don’t be alarmed if they drop by! Your cooperation in sharing details is greatly appreciated as we work on updating our business directory. Your input is invaluable to us.

Looking back on the month, it was wonderful to connect with so many of you at the Annual BBQ and Community Engagement Day hosted by Toronto Police Service’s 31 Division on August 15th, which was attended by Mayor Olivia Chow, Hon. MP Judy Sgro, MPP Tom Rakocevic, and Councillor Anthony Perruzza. I was also deeply honoured to receive the 31 Division Community Champion Award. This community has always meant the world to me, and receiving this recognition is truly special. A very important thank you to Superintendent Jack Gurr and his incredible team for everything they do for us.

Finally, I want to wish everyone a very Happy Labour Day. I hope you all get to spend the upcoming long weekend relaxing with family and friends. Wishing you all a warm and wonderful fall season ahead!

Warm regards,

Sandra Farina

Executive Director
