The Emery Village community mourns the loss of one of its most cherished and active residents, Lee Jackson. Lee’s unwavering commitment to community service and her passion for fostering a sense of togetherness have left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
For nearly 60 years, Lee Jackson made Emery Village her home, exemplifying what it means to be a pillar of the community. Her dedication shone brightly through her initiation and continued support of the Neighbours Night Out. This annual community BBQ, which she hosted for 18 years, became a staple event, bringing together residents of all ages in a celebration of community spirit and camaraderie.
Beyond her contributions to Neighbours Night Out, Lee’s impact extended to the Carmine Stefano Community Centre, where she was vital to the Wednesday senior art class. As a skilled teacher in knitting and crochet, she empowered many seniors, creating a space where they could learn, connect, and thrive. Her efforts were driven by a simple yet powerful philosophy: when there’s a need in the community, step up and do something about it. And that’s exactly what Lee did, bringing together diverse activities like painting, crocheting, and knitting, fostering a sense of unity and purpose among the seniors.
Lee’s legacy is not just in the events she organized or the skills she taught, but in the sense of community she nurtured. Her belief in staying active and socializing was contagious, and her efforts have greatly enriched the lives of many in Emery Village.
As we bid farewell to Lee Jackson, we remember her not just for what she did, but for who she was - a beacon of hope, a unifier, and a true friend to all.
Our deepest condolences go out to her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Lee Jackson will be deeply missed, but her spirit and contributions to Emery Village will never be forgotten.
