There’s something special about laughter echoing through a community space. I recently had the pleasure of photographing a lively group of seniors playing bingo at the Woodview Park Library. It was more than just a game – it was a reminder of how important it is to get out and stay connected.
Socializing isn’t just fun – it’s good for your health. From making new friends to discovering new hobbies, getting out of the house can boost your mood and bring a sense of purpose to your day. Whether it’s a drop-in game, an art course, or a walking group, there are plenty of ways to stay active and involved in our neighbourhood.
The Toronto Public Library offers a variety of senior-friendly programs, and Woodview Park is a great place to start. Just down the road, the Carmine Stefano Community Centre also has activities to help you stay moving and meet others – from fitness classes to social gatherings.
So don’t wait for the next invitation – step out, try something new, and see just how good it feels to be part of your community.
