In Emery Village, residents have a selection of pharmacies—seven in total each offering a range of health services. With new powers granted to Ontario pharmacists in recent years, the choice of pharmacy has become more important than ever. Since January 1, 2023, pharmacists can assess and prescribe for several minor ailments, including urinary tract infections, pink eye, rashes, menstrual pain, and more. These services are covered under OHIP and do not require a doctor’s visit.
When choosing a pharmacy, it’s worth considering a few key factors: Does it offer delivery? Are the hours convenient for your schedule? Does it provide additional services like vaccinations, blister-pack medications, or a walk-in clinic?
Of the seven pharmacies in the area, Emery Village Pharmacy, located at 39 Abraham Welsh Road, offers one of the most comprehensive sets of services. In addition to prescribing for minor ailments and distributing Paxlovid antiviral treatments, the pharmacy provides travel vaccines, free delivery, walk-in care, and blister-packing. It’s a strong option for anyone looking for full-service healthcare from a pharmacist.
Woodview Medical Pharmacy at 3236 Weston Road is another. Open six days a week, they offer free blister-pack services, home delivery, MedsCheck medication reviews, and a safe disposal program for medications and sharps. The facility is wheelchair accessible and community-oriented.
Weston Care Pharmacy, located at 3214 Weston Road, opens early at 9 a.m. and offers both delivery and in-store pickup. Terrace Square Pharmacy Clinic, at 3424 Weston Road, opens a bit later at 11 a.m. but provides similar convenience through delivery and pickup options.
For cost-conscious residents, Weston Discount Pharmacy at 3473 Weston Road is a practical choice, offering affordable essentials with delivery services available. Finch Weston Medical Pharmacy, located at 2367 Finch Avenue West, offers another full-service option, often collaborating with local medical clinics. And finally, Sherbourne Pharmacy, located at 2300 Finch Avenue West, Unit 26, is a small, focused operation providing personalized in-store service and support.
