Emery Village BIA Executive Director’s message - September 2024

Emery Village BIA Executive Director’s message

As fall nears and temperatures begin to drop, many are looking forward to Thanksgiving and the cozy comforts of the season. Let us also remember all the families and seniors struggling through hard times. Consider dropping off non-perishable food at any food bank in your community or local churches.

With the change in weather comes an unfortunate rise in break-ins and car thefts across the community. Police are urging both residents and business owners to remain vigilant. Authorities recommend double-checking that all doors and windows are securely locked during the day, especially at night. It’s also an excellent time to ensure cars are locked and valuables are kept out of sight.

As always, look out for your neighbours. If you notice any suspicious activity, don’t hesitate to contact local law enforcement. A small step can go a long way in ensuring the safety of your community. Report any streetlights that are not working or city trees that are overgrown and covering the streetlights.

This is a reminder to also share any suspicious activity with your neighbours. To learn more about who to contact, and download our free emergency contact list visit: emeryvillagebia.ca

I wish you all a happy and safe Thanksgiving.
