Councillor’s Corner - July 2022

Dear Resident,

I’ve mailed my summer 2022 Newsletter to every home in Humber River-Black Creek. This edition includes project updates about the work I’ve been doing with different City departments, local groups, and others to advance renewal in our community. Please get in touch with me if you have not received a copy and would like one.

Peak summer weather is upon us. The ’s outdoor pools are available for you to cool off and refresh, including wading pools, splash, and spray pads. For more information, please call City Recreation at: 416-396-7378, option 1, or visit: toronto.ca

Our parks are also a great way to find shade and connect with nature and each other; many have brand new adult fitness and playground equipment for you to use and enjoy. If you have questions about renewal in our local parks, please contact me.

Community Crisis Service pilot

The City has announced two new Community Crisis Service pilots, one here in the northwest part of Toronto led by the Canadian Mental Health Association. This alternative crisis response prioritizes supporting neighbourhoods through a community-driven model of responding to mental health crises and wellness checks instead of police responses. The Toronto Community Crisis Service is trauma-informed and focused on harm reduction. The northwest pilot launched on July 18, operating 24 hrs/day, from Sunday to Friday. I will continue to share updates about this pilot and you can contact me for more details.

Finch West LRT Project

It was great to tour the Finch West LRT Maintenance and Storage Facility with Mayor Tory and see the work done to advance this key investment in our nearby transit system. This new route will stretch 11 km and connect to Humber College. Trains have been tested on part of the track and will continue to move forward. Please get in touch with me if you have any questions.

Property Tax Rebates

Seniors and others who qualify can book an appointment with my office to fill out an application for the City of Toronto’s Property Tax, Water and Solid Waste Relief, and Rebate Programs. Please get in touch with me for details on eligibility, required documents, and other guidance.

Stay in touch.

If you need access to more City resources, contact me at: 416-338-5335 Or: councillor_perruzza@toronto.ca

Yours Truly,

City Councillor
