Councillor's Corner - Nov 2017

Dear Residents,

The Christmas season is in the air at city hall.

On Nov. 6, a gigantic evergreen tree was delivered to Nathan Philips Square on a flatbed truck from Bancroft.

It took three cranes, six people and approximately four hours to get the 60-foot-tall (18 metres) tree up. The 2017 Christmas tree required three days to settle before it could be decorated.

On Saturday, Nov. 25, the 51st annual Cavalcade of Lights turned Nathan Philips Square into a magical place where you, your family and friends can come to enjoy skating.

If you don’t have skates or forget to bring them, skates will be available for rent. So many of the storefronts in the area are beautifully decorated, so come and support local businesses.

It has been an honour and a privilege to serve you for more than two decades. Growing and revitalizing our community will always be my priority.

Since my last update, I have met and spoken with many of you. I have had many conversations on the needs of Ward 7, and together we will make our community a better place to live, work and play. Whether you are new to the community or a long-time resident, I share your concerns. We take pride in our community and we deserve the same level of service that the rest of city sees.

To those who have not always agreed with me, I have heard your voices, and I look forward to collaborating with you to create a unified ward and improve our quality of life.

It goes without saying that successful communities are made up of neighbours that are engaged and invested in where they live and how they can make it better places to live, work, and raise a family. We all want to work toward making our community vibrant and beautiful.

As the holiday season draws near, it is important to gather with our family and friends, to reflect on the good fortune that we have experienced and to look forward to the New Year.

As you celebrate the holidays, please be safe and enjoy the happiness and time with your loved ones.

I wish you all a happy and safe holiday season.

Sincerely,

Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti

Ward 7, York West
