A little late, but worth the wait: Easter magic in Emery Village

By Sean Delaney

Yes, we admit it — last month’s Emery Village Voice went to press before the Easter Bunny had even finished fluffing his tail. But with so much happening across the community, even the bunnies can’t always beat our deadlines.

Luckily, the Humberlea Easter Egg Hunt doesn’t follow a publishing schedule — it runs on community spirit, sunshine, and a whole lot of jelly beans. So here’s our (fashionably late) thank you to the wonderful neighbours who made this year’s event one to remember.

Strathburn Park came alive with colour, laughter, and celebration during the 5th Annual Humberlea Easter Egg Hunt, hosted by our very own community champions, Michael Verrelli and Bridget Contento. With more than 100 local children hopping from one fun activity to the next, the park was a bright burst of springtime joy.

But this wasn’t just your standard egg hunt. Kids flapped and spun in a, “dance like a chicken” contest, bounced in frog hops, teamed up for classic two-legged races, and tested their balance with the ever-tricky egg walk. If there was a giggle to be had, it happened in Humberlea that day.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get any cuter — in came the Easter Bunny. Full of bounce and charm, the big bunny made the rounds, delighting families and posing for those must-have springtime selfies.

It takes a village, and it took some seriously dedicated volunteers to make the day run as smoothly as a chocolate egg on a sunny sidewalk. From setup to snack time, thank you for making the magic happen.

“The Humberlea Easter Egg Hunt has become such a wonderful tradition,” said the Humberlea Community Group. “It’s all about bringing the community together and seeing so many happy faces reminds us why we do it every year.”

So, to Michael, Bridget, the volunteers, and every child and parent who made the day unforgettable, thank you. Emery Village never fails to show up and shine, even if your newspaper is a little behind.
