On February 27, Ontario will go to the polls for the 44th general election in its history. It is another chance to have a say in the future of a community and a province. The candidates who are elected will make decisions that affect health care, jobs, transit, education, housing, safety, and affordability—issues that impact everyone, every day.
No matter the political stripe chosen by the voter, this election gives them the opportunity to support the vision they believe in. Some voters may want to see new leadership and a fresh approach, while others may feel the current direction is the right one. Either way, the choice is yours. The only way to have your voice heard is by voting.
While Emery Village is helping to choose the next MPP for Humber River–Black Creek, this election will also shape the leadership at Queen’s Park. The party that wins the most seats will form the next provincial government, setting policies that impact on every community in Ontario. In Emery, major investments like the Finch West LRT are nearing completion, but the future of transit, infrastructure, and City funding will depend on decisions made at the provincial level. Inflation, housing affordability, and the rising cost of living remain pressing issues. How we move forward on these challenges depends on the people we elect to represent us.
The best thing you can do before election day is get informed. Learn about the candidates, understand their priorities, and choose the person that will best represent you and your concerns.
The Emery Village Voice has reached out to the local candidates to provide insight into their positions so you can make an informed decision.
Elections are decided by the people who show up. Whether you want change or continuity, the power is in your hands.
So, mark your calendar for February 27, take some time to learn about your choices, and most importantly—vote.
Every ballot counts, and your voice matters.
