Happy New Year to our Emery readers. How is everyone?
I hope you’re finding ways to stay healthy and positive through these crazy times. If there’s anything that we at the Emery Village Voice can assist you with, please don’t hesitate to reach out:
Despite everything going on around us, I’m feeling optimistic and excited for 2021. Perhaps it was last year’s news that two COVID-19 vaccines were approved by Health Canada? And while the vaccine rollout has not hit its full stride as of yet, we have started to take care of our most vulnerable, our elderly long-term care residents, along with our front line health care workers.
When vaccine rollout information becomes available for the general public, we will strive to keep everyone updated.
Another undeniable positive is seeing hockey back. It’s been fantastic to cheer for the boys in blue again. And I know I’m not alone. Canadians love their hockey.
All government levels have been cooperatively working toward keeping us safe and secure. Not just from a health perspective, but also in making sure that Canadians that need financial assistance have the resources available to help keep a roof over their head and food on the table. The offices of Councillor Anthony Perruzza ( 416-338-5335) and MPP Tom Rakocevic (416-743-7272) are always ready to assist our residents in need. Please feel free to give them a call.
Once more, I ask that you please try and shop local when you can. Consider take-out, pickup or Uber Eats and Skip the Dishes for restaurants. For shopping online for household or personal items, please take the time to search a little deeper to see if one of the wonderful merchants in Emery has created a retail website. We have to do everything in our power to help support our local businesses during these most difficult times.
Lastly, I would like to invite all Emery business owners and employees, as well as our Emery residents that work either local or outside of the boundaries, and all Emery students to register for the BIA free COVID-19 education and certification course.
The certification course is an excellent tool to help you learn ways to protect yourself, coworkers, customers, and your family members. The details are available at:
