Executive Director’s message-Jan 2017

A quick way back to resolution

Welcome to 2017! Let’s make this year a positive one!

Now that we have settled into our everyday and have fast forgotten our new year’s resolutions, there may be something close to home that can put us back on a healthy track. Look around Emery where there are plenty of services that can help us achieve our health goals and bring balance into our lives.

Family day is also around the corner bringing some excitement during the cold winter months. To keep those little ones busy and fighting off the blues get outside and find activities that everyone will enjoy. Here are some suggestions that families can explore:

A Merry Munsch Pyjama Party

Saturday, Feb. 18 - Sunday, March 26

Solar Stage Children’s Theatre

The Madison Centre, 4950 Yonge Street

Toronto. (416) 368-8031

Put on your PJs and jam with us! Solar Stage’s annual Munsch show tradition continues! This brand new play is based on five books: Get Out of Bed; Roar; We Share Everything; No Clean Clothes; and Pyjama Day.

Power Kids: Smoke and Mirrors

Sunday, Feb. 19 at 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.

The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery

231 Queens Quay West

Toronto. (416) 973-4949

In this workshop, we will consider the use of two spy-holes in Maria Hupfield’s exhibition, one of which looks out onto the Lake Ontario harbour.

Family Literacy Month at Toronto Libraries

Sunday, Jan. 1 - Tuesday, Jan. 31

Toronto Libraries, Toronto.

Contact your local library branch for information.

Join us throughout January as we celebrate families sharing the joy of reading and literacy together. Just taking 15 minutes a day to read or do a learning activity with children can improve their literacy skills dramatically.

Have a happy and safe Family Day!

Sincerely,

Sandra Farina
