Jeanne McGuire is running as the Communist Party of Canada (Ontario) candidate for Humber River–Black Creek in the upcoming provincial election. With a strong background in activism and social advocacy, McGuire has dedicated much of her life to fighting for workers’ rights, social justice, and international solidarity.
A founding member of Canadians Concerned with Southern Africa, she was actively involved in the anti-apartheid movement and has served as president of the Congress of Canadian Women. Her work has also included advocating for democracy and human rights in Chile through Toronto Action for Chile, opposing the Pinochet dictatorship.
McGuire and the Communist Party’s platform focus on issues such as wealth redistribution, expanded public services, stronger protections for workers, and an economy that prioritizes people over corporate profits. The party also advocates for affordable housing, higher wages, and increased funding for healthcare and education.
Her candidacy in Humber River–Black Creek offers voters an alternative perspective centred on social equity and systemic change. McGuire’s long history of activism and advocacy reflects her commitment to policies that aim to improve the lives of working people and marginalized communities.
