Going back to school is always a big step for children, and it’s even more meaningful when the community comes together to make sure every child feels ready and supported. This year, a special charitable effort in Emery Village made a real difference for many families.
Safe Storage Depot, the Emery Village BIA, the Emery Village Voice, and 31 Division Police Services’ Neighbourhood Community Officer Deanne Taylor joined forces to deliver backpacks filled with school supplies to children in need. With the added support of the Children’s Breakfast Club and McDonald’s Canada, the initiative ensured that students returned to the classroom with the tools they needed to succeed.
Each knapsack was carefully packed with essentials like markers, crayons, pencils, sharpeners, rulers, and binders. For many kids, opening these bright, brand-new supplies is more than just practical—it’s a confidence boost that helps them start the year on the right foot.
The effort also highlights a shared belief in the community: the more we do for one another, the stronger our neighbourhood becomes. Partners such as George Diavolitsis, Melina D’Onofrio, and Areef Mandol from Safe Storage Depot, along with Sandra Farina from the Emery Village BIA, played key roles in making this event such a success, and their generosity deserves special thanks.
Safe Storage Depot has long been a proud member of the Emery Village BIA, located at 1945 Wilson Avenue (416-747-7444). They are currently offering a special promotion—50% off the first three months of storage—reminding us that when we support local businesses, we keep our community thriving.
This back-to-school drive was more than just a distribution of supplies—it was a show of care, partnership, and community spirit. With so many helping hands involved, Emery Village children walked into their classrooms not only with full backpacks but also with the knowledge that their community is behind them every step of the way.
