Emery Village BIA Executive Director’s message
As we welcome the longer days and warmer breezes of spring, it’s a season of renewal and optimism across Emery Village.
We understand that for many of our local businesses—particularly those involved in steel and aluminum fabrication and manufacturing—this spring also brings continued challenges.
The high tariffs introduced just over a month ago have added pressure to an already uncertain economy. Emery Village is home to the largest industrial employment zone in Canada, and we recognize the strain these policies place on both employers and workers. We remain hopeful that all levels of government will come together to provide support and relief, helping our industries remain strong and competitive.
This month, we’re also proud to support Prom Project 2025, an initiative presented in partnership with The Children’s Breakfast Club and the Emery Village Business Improvement Area. The project is designed to help local graduating students look and feel their best as they celebrate a major life milestone. We’re collecting gently used prom dresses, as well as suits and shirts for the guys, to give young people a chance to shine—without added financial stress. It’s not just about meeting a need; it’s about kindness, sharing, and giving those beautiful dresses a second chance.
Donations can be dropped off during business hours at 1885 Wilson Avenue and will be accepted until the deadline of May 23rd. We thank everyone in advance for your generosity and community spirit.
As we head into the Victoria Day long weekend, let’s take time to enjoy everything our neighbourhood has to offer.
Whether it’s a walk through Joseph Bannon Park, a visit to Roundtree Mills, or simply soaking up the sunshine with family, we’re lucky to live in such a vibrant and beautiful part of Toronto. May is when the city comes alive—and so does Emery.
On behalf of myself and the Board of Directors of the Emery Village BIA, we wish everyone a safe, happy, and restorative Victoria Day weekend. Let’s continue to support one another and keep building a stronger Emery Village together.
