Taking the curve

Curve Motors is an auto retailer that focuses on previously owned cars, typically four to five years old, with decent kilometres.

“We’ve been in the market since 2004,” said owner Hamid Haji. “We’ve always been in Scarborough but were interested in coming to the other side of the City. This property came to market and was the right fit for our needs.”

Haji immediately engaged in significant improvements, which did a lot for both the neighbourhood and the dealership, as the property was in disarray.

Now, he is hoping to add another 100 cars, but is also looking to expand his staff, with a need for more mechanics, detailers, and salespeople.

It has been a difficult market, but with interest rates coming down, Haji said he expects a quick turnaround. “It is one of the worst markets in my experience, but it is going to pick up. We’re seeing interest rates dropping, and people are getting more comfortable.”

And Haji would like the community to feel comfortable in his dealership. He started the business 20 years ago when he first came to Canada, and now everyone feels like family, he said.

“One mechanic has been here for 17 years, another for 15,” Haji said. “My brother has been working with me for 20 years, and another brother joined six years ago. We would love for people to come in, get to know us, and find the right car for them.”

Curve Motors can arrange all financing, has an excellent working relationship with the major Canadian banks, and boasts a nearly 100-percent success rate in securing financing for customers with decent credit ratings.
