Honouring the Brave: A Call to Remember on November 11th
As Remembrance Day approaches, it’s essential to reflect on the importance of honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice and those who continue to serve our country. From our brave soldiers who defended our freedom to the police and firefighters who risk their lives every day to keep us safe, we owe a debt of gratitude that should never be forgotten.
Parents, this is an opportunity to teach your young ones about the significance of Remembrance Day. Share with them why we pause on November 11th, at the 11th hour, to remember those who have fallen. It’s about understanding the courage and selflessness of those who serve and ensuring that respect for their sacrifice is carried on to future generations.
We’re inviting all of you to join us on November 11th at Joseph Bannon Park, located at 65 Mary Chapman Blvd, North York. Our community’s observance will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will include moments of reflection and respect, with the participation of our elected officials and the dedicated officers of 31 Division. After the observance, refreshments and a light lunch will be served. It’s a chance for all of us to come together, share in the memory, and show our thanks.
This isn’t just a duty; it’s a tradition that strengthens our community and honours those who gave so much. Let’s stand together with our children and pay tribute to the courage of those who have served and those who continue to protect us every day. Hope to see you all there.
