Celebrating 50 Years of Globe Meats Market

By Sean Delaney

Globe Meats Market is celebrating its 50th anniversary. For half a century, this butcher shop has been a cornerstone of the community, known for quality meats at exceptional prices.

Founded in 1974 by the late Pasquale DiBiase, it was built on a promise to provide fresh, locally sourced meat at good value. Customers quickly embraced the shop. Originally located on St. Clair Avenue, Globe Wholesale Meats moved to the Emery Village in 1974. In 2015 they moved to their current location at 61 Signet Drive which allowed them to expand their offerings and serve the community even better.

Today, the market is proudly owned by Pasquale’s son, Dante DiBiase. Dante shares a passion for the butcher trade. He has worked hard to maintain the shop’s reputation for excellence while introducing innovative practices. Under his leadership, the ship focuses on sustainable sourcing and offers a wide range of Italian products, including specialty meats, house-made sausages, and gourmet items. Globe has also begun making delicious focaccia sandwiches, which have quickly become a hit among lunch-goers. They are perfect for anyone looking for a satisfying meal on the go, and they’ve been featured in the Emery Village Voice.

Globe Meats Market is not just about meat, it’s about community. The shop has become a gathering place for locals, where friendly conversations happen daily. Regular customers appreciate the personal service they receive, often leaving with not just groceries but also recipe ideas and cooking tips from the knowledgeable staff.

Globe Meats is recognized for its famous Porchetta. It starts with 80 to 90 lbs of local Ontario whole pork, seasoned with their secret family blend of spices and naturally grown herbs. It is slow cooked whole for 12 hours. Globe serves Porchetta across the GTA and Toronto as well as fresh daily in their Eatery.

Globe Meats Market is more than just a place to buy meat. It’s a community hub that has stood the test of time, adapting and thriving through the years.

Next time you find yourself in Emery Village, be sure to stop by Globe Meats Market. Whether you’re looking for the perfect steak for dinner or a delicious focaccia sandwich for lunch, you’ll feel right at home. Cheers to 50 years and counting.
