Help for those in need

By Sean Delaney

Not far from Emery is the Caritas School of Life, a therapeutic community with a multi-dimensional approach to substance misuse recovery. They are excited to announce an ambitious new program for women.

My Second Home is a new and unique, free-day program offering support and counseling to women and female-identifying clients facing substance misuse and mental health challenges.

The program is full-time, Monday to Friday, and runs out of a spacious residence in a rural location (Due to the vulnerable situation many of their clients are in, the exact location must remain private).

The program offers access to a licensed psychotherapist, group counseling, art therapy, and animal therapy in the new year.

Caritas can assist participants in finding bed-based residential treatment and other services. Additionally, to increase accessibility, they also offer a shuttle service from Vaughan to the program’s location.

Caritas is Vaughan’s longest running therapeutic community.

Their mission is to support individuals facing the challenges of addiction and mental health concurrent disorders through the healing provided in a day and residential therapeutic community program.
