Executive Director’s message - January 2022

Emery Village BIA

Executive Director’s message

This year has seen one of the largest snowfalls since 1965 and we were very happy to see the community come together to help clear the walkways. We are particularly grateful to the young teenagers and adults who came out to help the senior citizens clear the snow and help cars that were stuck. Thank you for looking out for the community.

This is a reminder that the Commercial Space Rehabilitation Grant Program is still accepting applications. This grant offers matching funding of 50 percent to commercial business operators and owners of storefronts that are vacant (or, in certain limited circumstances, at risk of becoming vacant) to undertake interior improvements, assisting businesses to re-lease space impacted by COVID-19.

Emery BIA encourages eligible businesses to apply. We are available to guide you through the application form and encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.

On January 31, Ontario began the process of gradually easing restrictions while maintaining protective measures. This included increasing social gathering limits to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors and increasing or maintaining capacity limits at 50 percent in indoor public settings. On February 21, Ontario will begin to lift certain public health measures, and on March 14, further additional steps will be taken. You can view a full breakdown of these changes here:

We hope you continue to follow these guidelines so that we can continue to safely live and work in the community.

Sincerely,

Sandra Farina

Executive Director
