Have you heard about the PRESTO card? If not, it’s time to get on board! This handy card is set
to save Emery residents money and make travelling on the TTC and GO systems a breeze.
The One Fare Program is one of the region’s newest transit initiatives, and it’s already making a
big difference. Launched on February 26, 2024, the program allows transit customers to pay
only once when travelling between TTC, GO Transit, Brampton Transit, Durham Region Transit,
MiWay, and York Region Transit. As of April 19, riders have made over five million transfers
using the One Fare Program!
With the PRESTO card, travelling has never been easier. Here’s a quick rundown on how it
works:
Get Your PRESTO Card: You can use a physical PRESTO card, or link PRESTO to your credit
or debit card, or even use PRESTO in Google Wallet.
Tap and Go: Simply tap on a participating transit agency. PRESTO will automatically calculate
and apply a 100% discount, meaning you only pay once.
Transfers: Transfers are valid for two hours on local transit and within three hours of starting
your GO trip. This means you can make multiple trips within this time frame without paying
extra.
For example, if you’re taking a TTC-GO trip, the TTC portion of your journey will be free, no
matter which direction you’re travelling. For trips within the same transit agency, the second part
of the trip will also be free. This means more travel, without extra cost!
The One Fare Program isn’t just about convenience; it’s also about savings. Adults commuting
five days a week can save up to $1,600 a year. That’s a lot of money you could be using
elsewhere!
