After years of planning and construction, the doors of the new Humber River Hospital opened to patients and families for the first time on Sunday, October 18th at 6 a.m.
It was an occasion made possible thanks to the support and participation of many people over the years as we moved from dream to concept… and from concept to reality.
Chief among this was the support of our community. Your belief in what we were trying to accomplish: to give this community the hospital facility it deserves – was inspiring. Without you, none of this would have been possible.
Our vision for the new Humber River Hospital is not just for October of 2015. It is for a sustainable model of care that involves an integrated approach to health care, in partnership with the community, family physicians, local health services providers and government agencies.
The goal is to bring a model for compassionate, respectful, quality care to our community, and to give our patients a new facility in which to receive that care. In that light, every aspect of our new hospital was designed with patients and families in mind, while keeping the focus on quality, safety and customer service.
North America’s first fully digital hospital: a showcase facility that integrates the finest possible technologies across the entire organization to enhance all key aspects of acute hospital care: quality, safety, efficiency and customer service.
But it’s not about technology for technology’s sake. It’s about using technology to enable care providers to spend more time at the bedside, nurturing the personal interactions that form the basis of great hospital care… because it’s as much about caring as it is about the care.
