This month deputy Mayor Michael Thompson (Scarborough Centre) and Councillor Jennifer McKelvie (Scarborough-Rouge Park) welcomed campers at Malvern Recreation Centre to the first day of March Break CampTO and announced the launch of the City of Toronto’s Play Mobile, a free pop-up sports program. Throughout March Break, Play Mobiles popped up in neighbourhoods across the city providing free, fun outdoor recreational opportunities to try a variety of sports. And more dates and locations will be available for:
Spring: May 16 to July 2, 2022
Summer: July 3 to August 28, 2022
Play Mobile is a city sports initiative, developed in partnership with Nike, designed to engage children, youth, families and adults in sports across Toronto. Three vans have been transformed into Play Mobiles, decorated and designed by Toronto artist Vivian Rosas and will tour around bringing new and interesting sports opportunities to neighbourhoods across the city.
Participating is free and requires no prior reservation, registration or equipment.
All skill levels and abilities are welcome.

Throughout March Break, and during the spring and summer, Play Mobiles will be visiting over 300 locations across the city, including CampTO locations and Neighbourhood Improvement Areas. Participants can share their experience on social media using the hashtag:
#TOplaymobile.
Deputy Mayor Thompson also announced that Summer CampTO program details can now be viewed online. Summer CampTO registration will open for all residents on Tuesday, April 12 at 7 a.m.
Summer camps range from traditional camps, with a variety of activities, to specialty camps that focus on a particular interest or skill such as arts, cooking, creative writing, drama, dance, science, sports and more. Programs begin on Monday, July 4.
There are still spots available for March Break Virtual CampTO and many spring recreation programs. More information about City camps is available on the CampTO webpage.
“This free and accessible Play Mobile initiative brings new activities and old favourites to neighbourhoods across the city. These, and other City recreation programs, are valuable to both the physical and mental wellness of our residents.
