Here is a question for young people who have their whole lives ahead of them:
- Where will you be 10 years from now?
- Five years from now?
- One year from now?
As we have noted on the Make Your Future website, you don’t need a crystal ball or super telepathic powers to know: you need a goal, and a plan, and the willingness to work. Are you ready?
“You are smart. You are healthy. You have had a good education. You can do anything you want to do, and people are ready to help you. There is nothing to stop you from building the life you want; nothing. So go do it.”
You can build the life you want. It won’t be instant, and it won’t always be easy, but you can do it. This is a fact. So then the question is, “How? How do I start? Where do I turn? Who can I ask to help me?” We care about you and want to help you get started!
I am very excited to be working with MCCSS Minister Lisa McLeod; Spider Jones; Michael “Pinball” Clemons; Kevin Green of Greenwin Investments; Ross McLeod of Intelligarde; Inspector Colin Greenaway from 31 Division Police; a great team of community groups and St. Basil the Great High School, the TCDSB and the TDSB in planning a special day of activities to help YOU get started on a plan to Make Your Future.
Plan to attend the “Make Your Future” event on November 17th, 2018 at St. Basil’s high school (near Weston Rd. and Finch). Hear from inspirational speakers and talk to employers who will be right onsite to tell you what you need to do to go to work for them (in some cases, receive some training; in other cases, simply apply!)
