The Emery Village community came together for a wonderful afternoon of skating at the local Joseph Bannon Park on Sunday, January 7th. This year marked the second annual Community Skating event hosted by Humber River- Black Creek MPP Tom Rakocevic and Staff, a gathering that is quickly becoming a favourite among residents.
The event, which ran from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, saw a great turnout, with families, couples, and singles lacing up their skates for some fun on the ice. The weather played along perfectly, with the snow pausing and the sun peeking out just in time to set the perfect mood for skating.
What’s a skating party without some treats? Attendees enjoyed warm hot chocolate and delicious Timbits, a perfect combo to keep everyone toasty and energized. These treats weren’t just a hit with the skaters but for everybody who dropped by the kiosk, adding to the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the event.
MPP Tom Rakocevic shared his thoughts: “I was delighted to have so many happy residents ring in the new year at my 2nd Annual Community Skating Party. A little sunlight, an outdoor rink, and some hot chocolate with friends always bring out the joy in all of us! I wish everyone all the best in 2024, and never hesitate to reach out to me and my team if you need us.”
This year’s skating event at Joseph Bannon Park was more than just a gathering; it was a celebration of our community spirit. Events like these bring us together, creating shared moments and memories. Here’s to many more such gatherings that keep the spirit of Emery Village alive and kicking.
