One of Emery Village’s favourite summer traditions is returning to Joseph Bannon Park on Friday, June 26, as families, friends, neighbours, and local businesses come together to celebrate the last day of school and the start of summer.
Now in its 13th year, the Emery Village BIA’s annual Movie in the Park has become one of the community’s most anticipated events, drawing residents of all ages for an evening of entertainment, food, and fun under the stars.
This year’s featured movie is Disney and Pixar’s Hoppers, a family-friendly animated adventure that is expected to be a big hit with children and families.
The festivities begin well before the movie starts. Families can enjoy music from returning favourite DJ Jordan, who will once again be keeping the crowd entertained throughout the evening. The ever-popular bouncy castle will also return, giving children plenty of opportunities to burn off some energy before settling in for the movie.
Joseph Bannon Park is the perfect setting for the event, with its recently opened splash pad, playground, green space, and family-friendly atmosphere providing something for everyone to enjoy.
A variety of food and beverage vendors will also be on site throughout the evening. Returning favourites include Pizziola, Noodlebox, 4 to 6 Softy, and Emery’s own The Food Trailer. A lemonade stand will also be available to help keep everyone refreshed during the celebration.
“Movie in the Park has become one of Emery Village’s favourite summer traditions,” said Sandra Farina, Executive Director of the Emery Village BIA. “It’s an opportunity for families, friends, neighbours, and local businesses to come together, celebrate the end of the school year, and enjoy a wonderful evening in the park. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Joseph Bannon Park on June 26.”
Residents are encouraged to arrive early, bring lawn chairs and blankets, and enjoy all of the activities before the movie begins at dusk.
As another school year comes to a close, Movie in the Park offers the perfect opportunity to kick off summer, reconnect with neighbours, and celebrate everything that makes Emery Village such a special community.
On behalf of the Emery Village BIA and the Emery Village Voice, we wish everyone a safe, happy, and enjoyable summer. We look forward to seeing you at Joseph Bannon Park on June 26.
