A Decade of Connection: Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Emery Village Voice newspaper
The Emery Village Voice Newspaper can mark a remarkable 10th anniversary.
A decade of monthly reporting, community engagement, and a commitment to amplifying Emery Village’s voice with a commitment to report “Only the Good News.”
In time, areas such as Humber Summit, once known as a forgotten corner of Toronto, are now heard from. Today, thousands of articles and references reflect the fascinating people and exciting community that has evolved.
As the publisher of this community paper, I am thrilled to reflect on this journey and the beginnings that sparked it all.
A decade ago, the Emery Village Business Improvement Area (BIA) Board of Management recognized the need for enhanced communication to foster better connections among BIA member businesses and the community. This recognition was the seed of the Emery Village Voice Newspaper.
The September 2013 front page headline read, “The 2013 BIA Wine Fest takes over Humber Summit.”
The rest is history.
Each edition serves as a window into the life of Emery Village. The pages are graced by stories of local entrepreneurs, community events, development projects, and the various initiatives that shape the neighborhood. Through interviews, features, and articles, the Emery Village Voice Newspaper has artfully woven the narrative of a community in motion, celebrating its achievements and addressing its challenges.
This 10th-anniversary celebration is not just about the newspaper but the people who make it possible. From the residents who help us bring stories to life, to the beautiful photographs that capture the essence of Emery Village, and to myself and the contributor’s editorial writing, such as the BIA’S Executive Directors and our Ward 7 Councillor’s monthly updates – it’s a collective effort.
As we mark this significant milestone, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Emery Village BIA Board of Management for their foresight and trust in launching this endeavor. We thank the BIA member businesses, community organizations, advertisers, and readers who have stood by us throughout this journey. Your support has been our driving force, and your engagement has given life to the pages of the newspaper.
Looking ahead, the Emery Village Voice Newspaper remains committed to its founding vision – to be a beacon of information, connection, and community spirit. As we enter the next decade, our resolve to serve Emery Village and its vibrant inhabitants remains unwavering. The stories continue, the conversations thrive, and the community bonds strengthen with every issue.
In celebrating this milestone, we also celebrate the remarkable community that has embraced the Emery Village Voice Newspaper as its own. Here’s to a decade of stories told and a future brimming with possibilities, connections, and the spirit of Emery Village.
Yours truly,
Sean Delaney
