Publisher’s Note: NETWORK!

Social Networking is not just for the young or young at heart. It’s a vital business tool!

People who do not yet have an account on Facebook or Twitter are regarded as freaks, people anachronistic and outdated. Who today does not have an account in these networksThe popularity of these networks has made it so one can use them to make money or even get a job as they can easily be used and to see others who can help in that purpose.

HOW TO GET WORK USING TWITTER

1. Locate key contact people. If I want to work for example in the Acme Corporation office a simple search on Twitter to find out the accounts of the key people who can decide my employment.

2. Earn authority with your posts on Twitter. Once connected with the key people I shall proceed to write my Tweets or messages of 140 characters with issues related to the job you want to apply for. If you want to be hired as an electrical engineer I will post things relating to that specialty.

The idea is that the key people of the corporation to which I am applying, read my tweets and see that I am a specialist in the area.

3. Be careful what you say, you are what you publish. It is crucial to show your potential employersyou are an asset and your publications, your image, can be “dropped” by what you post. If you post personal things it is best to have two accounts on Twitter a professional and one personal.

4. Make personal contact with the company you want to work with. Once you’ve built an image as a specialist in the area where you want to work you should try to connect with these key people and seek a personal meeting in order to try to land a potential opportunity to work in that company you targeted.

A strategy similar to that described above can be used to create business opportunities using Twitter as a tool.
