A exciting local event was the fourth annual Black Unsung Heroes Awards Dinner at the Jamaican Canadian Association Centre on Arrow Rd. “The Spirit of Togetherness” is right! Great music, food and people gathered together to celebrate local heroes and some who have global success. Congratulations to award winners Joyceline Brown, Courtney Grant, Joanne Davis, Christopher Tait, Abigail Hamilton, Sam Morgan, Dahalia Bent, Marquez Ramsay, Lance Constantine, Eddie Grant, Nana Mclean, Bernie Pitters, Joseph Bennett, and Collin Walters.

Colin has helped hundreds of youth and unemployed find jobs cleaning TTC buses and libraries, exposed to books, computers and really good people, rather than guns and gangs. The Voice attended the great evening of amazing talents and deep souled brothers and sisters. Tears and laughter...lots of love filled the humble hall at the Jam Can Centre. Kofi Sankofa and Adaoma Patterson were phenomenal MC’s. Mentors like Luther Brown, Elaine Thompson, Jay Douglas, and Tony Scott and the Queen of this gala...Simone Banton, founder of blackstarmovement.com and all those volunteers, sponsors and unique people made this year’s event magic! Bravo! Learn more at their website...
