In Vaughan is a remarkable individual who has set an extraordinarily generous example.
Thomas Weihmayr, a long-time donor at the Vaughan Canadian Blood Services Centre, is set to make his 800th donation on August 20th—a milestone that places him in the top one percent of blood donors in Canada.
Thomas Weihmayr isn’t just any donor. He has set national records with Canadian Blood Services and has earned recognition for his unwavering commitment to giving back. Thomas holds the title of the youngest person in Canada to reach 100, 200, and 300 donations, and in Ontario, he’s the youngest to hit 400 and 500 donations. His incredible dedication has helped save countless lives.
Thomas served in the Royal Canadian Air Force for 14 years, first as a flying instructor for the Air Cadet program and later as a liaison officer to Allied Air Forces throughout Latin America. During his military career, he rose to the rank of Major.
Thomas’s impact extends beyond his impressive donation numbers. He’s a warm and caring individual who builds meaningful relationships with the staff and donors at the Vaughan Centre. His generosity of time and spirit has made a lasting impression on everyone who meets him.
“He’s an incredible man,” said one of the staff members at the Vaughan Centre. “Thomas is someone who always puts others first, and we’re so grateful for his contributions.”
Weihmayr is preparing for his 800th donation. Blood product donations are vital for hospitals, including the Humber River Hospital, which serves the Emery Village community. Every donation makes a difference, and as Thomas shows us, every donor has the power to save lives.
This milestone is not just a celebration of one man’s achievements but also a call to the community to step up and help. Whether it’s your first donation or your 50th, your contribution matters. Canadian Blood Services is always in need of new donors, and the Vaughan Centre is ready to welcome you with open arms.
