Where does the time go?
Another season of the Emery senior’s art class and social gathering has come to an end.
Each Wednesday, a local group of seniors get together to develop their art skills under the skilled instruction of Lucy Catania. The number of weekly participants has been growing steadily ever since its inception. It’s all a very satisfying experience to witness.
Some of the members are new to painting and just starting to hone their skills. Some have been attending these classes for a long time and have developed considerable artistic skills. The Emery Village Voice has had the pleasure of stopping in every month to see the wonderful artistic learning curve that these active seniors are on.
There are always some freshly baked goodies to sample contributed by the artists along with lively conversations and meaningful interactions. It’s very important for seniors to keep busy and fill their days keeping their body and minds active.
Local MPP Tom Rakocevic was on hand to sample the artwork and deliver a congratulatory message to the group.
Art classes will commence again this September at the Carmine Stefano Community Centre.
Keep an eye out on the Emery Village Voice August edition for updated details.
Wishing everyone a wonderful summer.
