It’s time to clean up Toronto as winter comes to a close.
The Clean Toronto Together program was started under the Rob Ford mayoral administration back in 2011 and is led by Live Green Toronto. This will be the fourth year of the event.
According to the City of Toronto website, last year “600 events took place across the city, bringing together friends, family, coworkers and classmates to clean our parks, laneways and other space in need of help.”
There are a few opportunities for residents of Emery to get involved.
First, there is a corporate and school 20-minute makeover Friday, April 17th. Live Green Toronto encourages schools and businesses to take 20 minutes out of their day and improve the city by picking up litter around their place of school and work.
Another way to get involved is by participating in community cleanup days. This year there is one on the weekend of April 18-19th. Individuals, associations and groups are able to register to clean a park, laneway or another public space in their community. For more information about participating you can visit the city of Toronto website or contact the BIA office at 416-744-7242 or contact them online at info@emryvillagebia.ca .
Remember that we have over 35 Parkettes in Emery Village that are all likely in need of a little sprucing up. We owe it to ourselves and our children to help and provide a clean and safe playing experience.
