A massively successful International Ladies Day took place at the Da Vinci Banquet Hall in Woodbridge on March 13. The event was organized by The Federazione Abruzzese. and more than 350 women enjoyed the celebration.
Three awards were handed out to women originally from Abruzzo, Italy who have dedicated and distinguished themselves in their community. Recipients were Dr. Eva Pizzoferrato, Judge Joyce Frustaglio and Emery’s very own, Lucia Paterra Catania, president of the Golden Age Academy. Lucia has lived with pride in Emery Village for 43 years. Her great passion is in the arts and painting, as well as teaching other seniors new painting skills. She had some of her wonderful works of art on display at the luncheon.
The three recipients received a beautiful silk scarf along with a gold pendant that represents the symbol of a proud lady’s origin from Abruzzo
