HCC celebrates 15 years with ‘Rebirth’ conference

Harvest Christian Church Enters Fall With A Focus On Second Chances

BY PASTOR JON SARPONG

Harvest Christian Church (HCC) has a rich history in the Humber Summit Area, and from Friday, Oct. 9 to Sunday, Oct. 11, the ministry will celebrate 15 years of serving the community. In recognition of this milestone, the church is launching its first ever ‘Rebirth Conference.’ The event aims at providing a second chance to those who find themselves emotionally and spiritually distressed by providing uplifting sermons, wonderful gospel music and access to career, relationship and financial services.

“It’s important for the church to be at the center of community life,” says Rev. Moses Sarpong, Senior Pastor at HCC. “There are people in need of love and support that may not have an outlet to voice their difficulties. The church exists to provide a nurturing and positive environment where people can grow and be lifted to a higher place in life; that is what Harvest Christian Church stands for—helping people grow to reach their full potential.

Over the years, HCC has helped several individuals and families feel at home in the Humber Summit. The church is especially successful in aiding new and recent immigrants adapting to life in Canada, via a special internal program that connects this group to the services that assist in rooting the lives in the community.

“I’ve only been here a little over one year,” says Mike Antwi. “I came from London and didn’t know anyone; however, the members of the church opened their arms to me and made me feel at home. Now my wife has joined me in Canada and we have a great sense of family and community.

Rev. Theresa Sarpong, co-founder at HCC, says she considers herself a living witness to God’s goodness to her and the church. Being a member for so many years, she says she has a lot of stories to tell.

“It’s real gratifying to know that I had a part in this. And you know they say, if you’ve been somewhere and if you’ve done something then you can tell it,” Rev. Theresa said.

“In Revelations it talks about God saying ‘I am the Alpha and Omega - the beginning and the end’. He truly is and he’s been here with our church through all these years.”

Members say they’re thankful for their faithfulness to the church, and happy to be able to remember the history and celebrate 15 great years.

HCC’s Rebirth Conference will take place on Friday, Oct. 9 (8 p.m.); Saturday, Oct. 10 (8 p.m.) and Sunday, Oct. 11 (11 a.m.).
