Executive Director’s message-Nov 2014

Emery Village BIA

With Christmas right around the corner, and only one more month in 2014 it will be a decade that I have worked at the Emery Village BIA. I know it can be challenging, especially as the weather turns cold and the days begin to feel shorter. It can be hard to keep motivated during the winter blues. This is why I want to take some time to outline the key ways to stay motivated at work during the winter. I think the first one on the list will be obvious to most people – exercise. It keeps the mind healthy and your immune system up. Number two, eating a healthy diet. Three, getting some vitamin D – even through a supplement is helpful. Number four, do not binge drink. During the holiday season there are lots of excuses to drink but limiting the number of drinks will help you feel less sluggish during the week. Number five, which is most peoples favourite rule – treating yourself to something nice can keep you motivated. Last but not least, and this is the most important one of all, make sure you are getting a good night sleep. Sleep contributes to many different aspects of life, stress, weight gain and now even productivity and mood in the work place. So keep warm and get some rest. Happy Winter Emery Village! If you have any other suggestions on ways to keep the morale in the office and the winter blues away, please send me an email at sandra@emeryvillagebia.ca.
