Recently we turned the clocks forward an hour – a subtle indicator that after a long harsh winter, spring is finally right around the corner. I am more than happy to trade our past “winter wonderland” for a warmer and colourful season. But before the roses and tulips start to blossom on our lawns we have to deal with the last remains of old man winter. This means intensive spring-cleaning for everyone, to beautify our homes and community. As melting snow mixes with dirt and garbage it’s not only visually unpleasant but also unsafe. This mix of salt water conducted electricity and contaminated hydro poles, which caused two large city wide power outages this past month. In an attempt to avoid that happening a third time, residents and businesses are recommended to keep the sidewalks and boulevards as clean as possible. Another thing to keep in mind is the illegal parking. Move cars out of no parking zones. By helping each other in these simple ways, we are able to build a stronger and more prosperous community.
Here at the BIA we are keeping an eye out on the flower baskets. The greenhouse is now holding 265 of our baskets, and we anticipate decorating the community with the baskets this coming June.
