In the spirit of giving and community solidarity, the Emery Village Business Improvement Area (BIA) successfully carried on its tradition of hosting the annual Toy Drive and Food Donations event for 2023. This year, the generosity and enthusiasm of our participants were nothing short of remarkable, making the event an incredible success.
We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to our donors’ overwhelming support, we delivered five 10-foot U-Haul trucks full of food and one truck full of toys. These donations were distributed to 31 Division for community distribution and various organizations like Weston Emergency Services and the Harvest Food Bank.
A special round of applause goes to Delta Bingo (Paul and Max), who donated money and collected food and toys. MAXX (Melissa) showed their community spirit by collecting toys, food, and clothing. The team at Seaboard Transport Group, led by Jessica Gaglia and her staff, generously contributed toys and food.
Gulfstream Public School, under the guidance of Jeanette Kim, deserves mention for collecting an impressive three quarter of a U-Haul truck of food. Accu-Plane Enterprises Inc., represented by Chuck McDaid, kindly donated toys, and food. Coke Canada, led by Gareth O’Connell, contributed Coke products, bringing additional joy to the event.
MVR Cash & Carry, with Melissa & Anita, donated boxes full of children’s arts, crafts, and activity gift packs. General Sprinklers, thanks to Danny Palumbo, contributed toys and food. The August Group, with Michael Gismondi and family, generously donated a tablet, toys, and food. Excelsior Food, represented by Daniel Violante, provided pasta and tomato sauce cases.
Upper Crust, led by President, Carmela Serebryany, provided gift cards for food, toys, and clothing, and their staff collected a U-Haul full of new clothing, gloves, food, toys, snowboards, games, and much more.
Luxor Homes will be giving gifts to children in our community by handing them out to Toronto Fire Station 411 and Sick Kids Hospital.
We also extend our gratitude to the residents and businesses of Humber River Black Creek, especially those in the Remax Building at 1885 Wilson Ave, who donated and dropped off food and toys at our office drop-off box.
The Emery Village BIA team contributed a U-Haul full of food, toys, baby formula, infant diapers, clothing, products for young teens, and care products for seniors.
Special thanks are due to 31 Division Police – PC Laurie Dorrington & Staff Sgt. Peter Wallace, for their participation this year, and to PC Alfred & PC Addo for their invaluable help in loading and off-loading a full truck of toys at the 31-division police station for distribution to local families in need.
The success of this year’s Toy Drive and Food Donations event is a testament to the incredible spirit of giving that thrives in Emery Village. Your generosity has made a significant impact on the lives of many, and for that, we are deeply grateful.
