Celebrate the past in Emery
Two days into the month of February is when we find out how long we must wait until spring pays us a visit.
On Groundhog Day Ontario’s Wiarton Willie emerged out of his burrow and failed to see his shadow, implying spring will be here sooner than later.
Along with that good news, the month also brought us Valentine’s Day, Family Day, and Flag Day. Valentine’s Day coupled with Family Day created a long weekend for many to go out and enjoy each other’s company and take in events all around the city.
This year also marked the 50th anniversary of the National Flag of Canada. We can celebrate national unity as Canada’s 150th birthday approaches in 2017.
Emery village is home to more than 50 flagpoles carrying our national symbol, reflecting our strong, free and proud community. All the celebrations within this month are simple reminders of our past as well as a new future that is to come.
Many businesses in Emery Village are built on a rich history, and preserving that story is only possible through working together as a community.
