The holiday season is before us and old man winter is starting to show his frosty personality. Here at Emery Village we want to make those long winter evenings a little brighter by lighting up our streets full of holiday cheer.
Putting a smile on a child’s face is very important to us this time of year. Emery helps by contributing to toy drives so that all children can experience the wonder and joy of receiving a gift.
31st Division Toronto Police Services has a toy drive every year to support children in need. Donations will be accepted until Wednesday, December 14th, at the Police Station located at 40 Norfinch Drive, the Collision Reporting Centre located at 113 Toryork Drive and Delta Bingo at 1868 Wilson Ave. Drop boxes are located at the front desks.
Some holiday staples families do not want to miss in Toronto are: Tchaikovsky’s famous adaptation of E.T.A Hoffman’s story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King running from December 12, to January 3, at the Four Seasons Centre. For the wee ones, Disney on Ice always delivers high adventure and delight in this years production of Dare to Dream! Shows start December 18th to the 27th, at the Rogers Centre.
Catching some holiday displays can also be fun. The Gardiner Museum offers the 12 Trees of Christmas exhibition. Families can also enjoy the Cavalcade of Lights. Running a few blocks north of Bloor Street, be sure to stop by the restored historic North Toronto train station that has been converted into a store.
No matter what your budget is, remember that the holidays are about spending time with family and taking a moment to bring happiness to those in need.
Keep safe and enjoy!
