Welcome to the year 2016!
Many of us began with resolutions to create goals toward a healthier life and work balance. Prioritizing for yourself and your family are important objectives that may include activities that get everyone outdoors.
In Toronto, one of the great Canadian pasttimes involves strapping on a pair of skates and hitting the ice rink. Whether it’s a hockey inspired skate or just going around in circles putting your balancing skills to the test, getting out and enjoying winter from time-to-time can be revitalizing.
At Emery we have local skating rinks to enjoy at Joseph Bannon Park – located at 65 Mary Chapman Blvd; Habitant Arena – located at 3383 Weston Rd; Gord and Irene Risk Arena – located at 2650 Finch Ave W; and Downsview Arena – located at 1633 Wilson Ave.
The Harbourfront Centre is set against the beautiful shoreline of Lake Ontario. The Natrel Rink has been a skating destination in Toronto for 30 years, and best of all, skating is free. Located at 235 Queens Quay West, the rink offers skate rentals and skating lessons. For more information visit their website at: harbourfrontcentre.com.
Another not to miss event is the annual Bloor-Yorkville Ice Fest with ice sculpture displays, street performers, and the Sassfraz Ice Carving Competition running Saturday, Feb. 20 to Sunday, Feb. 21. Artists will complete a winter scene ice sculpture from 35,000 pounds of ice. The theme this year is “Expression of Love.” Romantic carvings will be perfect for the month that includes Valentine’s Day.
An event that takes place indoors but has the ability to transport you to somewhere exotic with your taste buds is Winterlicious. It runs from Jan. 29 to Feb. 11.
Experience a series of mouth watering culinary events and indulge in creative cuisine from around the world at great value. For more about Winterlicious visit: seetorontonow.com or the official site at: toronto.ca.
There are so many things to see and do in Toronto. I hope to check out the Canadian International Autoshow this year running Feb. 12 to 21.
Enjoy and stay safe.
Sincerely,
Sandra Farina
