Emery Village BIA Executive Director’s message - June 2024

Emery Village BIA Executive Director’s message

Strong neighbourhoods contribute to the vitality of our communities. It’s important to get outside and enjoy the beautiful summer days, meet new neighbours, and engage with our community.

Our Movie in the Park Night is right around the corner, so get ready to kick off summer with a bang. Join us on Friday, June 28th (Rain Date - Saturday, June 29th) at Joseph Bannon Park, 65 Mary Chapman Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. for an evening packed with fun from children’s activities, music, and various food vendors all from our Emery BIA Business Community like Starbucks, Noodlebox, Meltwich and Pizzaiolo. We will be serving hot dogs, our famous popcorn, Freezies, as well as many other tasty treats. And let’s not forget the fun extras – face painting, a canvas painting station, and a splash pad to keep everyone cool. The movie of choice this year is Elemental, which has a storyline based around inclusivity and community. Don’t miss out on the chance to enjoy the start of summer with your neighbours and friends. Remember to mark your calendars and bring your lawn chairs or blankets, as well as your appetite. With last year’s record-breaking attendance of nearly 500 individuals, we’re expecting another strong turnout this year. Spread the word and join us for a memorable night.

We’re on the lookout for volunteers to lend a hand at our upcoming Movie-In-The-Park Night. This is a great opportunity, especially for students, to earn some community service hours while having a blast. If you are interested, contact us at the BIA office at: 416-744-7242

Some ideas for activities that will keep the kids outside and active. Keep in mind the summer activities and programs offered by our neighbourhood recreation centres. Look into the many activities and team games that will get the whole family outside and enjoying the summertime as it may be difficult to keep kids occupied and happy at times.

Lastly, congratulations to all the graduates. Summer has finally arrived so stay tuned for upcoming community events in August.
