Dear Emery Village
By Shannon Delmarco
I am happy to tell all the readers that I have taken on the role of social director for the Emery Village Voice, reporting on all things fun to do in Emery Village. And as Victoria Day approaches, I would like to take a moment to extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to all of you. This holiday is a time to celebrate Queen Victoria’s birthday and Canada’s long history as a Commonwealth country.
On this special day, let us take a moment to reflect on our past, appreciate our present, and look forward to our future with hope and optimism. May this Victoria’s Day bring you joy, happiness, and good memories with your loved ones. I hope you have a fantastic long weekend and enjoy everything the City of Toronto and Emery Village offer.
Here are some fun things you can do on the Victoria Day long weekend in Emery Village and the City of Toronto:
1. Take a bike ride in Emery Village.
Lindy Lou Park is located at Finch Avenue and Weston Road.
It features a bike trail that winds through the park and is a popular cyclist destination. The Lindy Lou Bike Trail is a paved trail that runs through the park and is about two kilometres long. The trail is relatively flat, making it suitable for cyclists of all skill levels. It also provides access to other nearby bike trails, including the Humber River Recreational Trail and the Finch Hydro Corridor Trail.
2. Visit Canada’s Wonderland.
This amusement park is located in Vaughan, just outside of Toronto, and is a great place to spend a day with family or friends. They have thrilling roller coasters, water rides, and many other attractions.
3. Explore the Toronto Islands.
Take a ferry ride to the Toronto Islands and spend the day exploring. You can rent a bike, have a picnic, go swimming, or just enjoy the beautiful views of the city skyline.
4. Visit the Royal Ontario Museum.
This museum has a wide range of exhibits, from dinosaurs to art to world cultures. It’s a great place to spend a rainy day or learn something new.
5. Walk around Kensington Market.
This vibrant neighborhood is full of unique shops, restaurants, and street art. It’s a great place to explore and try some delicious food.
6. Go for a hike in the Don Valley.
The Don Valley is a beautiful natural area in the heart of the city. There are several trails to choose from, ranging from easy to challenging, and you can enjoy the scenery and wildlife.
7. Attend the Toronto International Circus Festival.
This annual festival takes place over the Victoria Day long weekend and features circus performers from around the world. It’s a fun and unique event that the whole family will enjoy.
I hope you have a great time exploring Toronto and Emery Village.
