Councillor’s corner - July 2024

Councillor’s corner

Dear Resident,

As your City Councillor, I understand that property taxes are a costly burden for Torontonians. I, along with some of my colleagues, started a program to bring relief to seniors and people with disabilities. This year’s applications are open until October 31, 2024. My office continues to host sessions to help residents apply for this property tax increase cancellation. For more information and for dates and times for clinics, please call my office.

In other news, on Tuesday July 16, the City of Toronto was hit with a month’s worth of rain in just three hours. Preventative infrastructure upgrades have always been a priority for my office, and I continue to work with residents and city staff to upgrade and rebuild storm water sewers in our neighbourhoods. While work is ongoing throughout the district, some residents will be feeling the immediate effects. The City of Toronto offers a Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy Program to help residents cover the cost of infrastructure upgrades to help prevent their homes from flooding. As always, my office can be contacted for assistance in finding these resources and any questions that residents may have.
