Celebrating Easter in Humber Summit

With the increasing hours of daylight, slight increase in temperature and winter jackets finding their rightful place in the closet, one thing seems certain—spring is in the air. This year, it seems that spring is making an early appearance, and this belief seems very clearly reinforced by the early appearance of the season’s first major holiday, Easter.

Easter Sunday celebrates the Christian belief of Jesus Christ’s resurrection.

Easter is considered a moveable feast, meaning that it’s celebration date takes place on carrying days from year to year.

Easter takes place on the first Sunday after the Paschal full moon, which is the first full moon on or after March 21; so, Easter always falls between March 22 and April 25.

For those living in the Humber Summit area, there are a number of churches providing celebratory Easter events for the community.

The Church is providing the community with an eventful Easter offering featuring wonderful services and a special live performance entitled “Heaven’s Gate, Hell’s Flames”. Admission is FREE and performances can be viewed on March 28 at 7pm and March 29 at 10:30 and 6pm.

HCC will continue its Easter tradition with special services throughout the Easter season. All are welcome to visit the church for the following services: Good Friday Service, Friday, April 3 at 11am and Resurrection Day Service, Sunday, April 5 at 11 a.m. As is the church’s custom, the children of HCC will play a primary role in the Easter observances, and all families that visit the Church will receive a special Easter gift.
