Buds Play & Learn brings STEAM learning to Emery

By Sean Delaney

Emery Village has welcomed a unique new business that combines play, learning and discovery under one roof. Buds Play & Learn was founded by Elizabeth Asuquo and Emmanuel Asuquo, co-founders who saw an opportunity to create a space where children could explore, learn and develop through hands-on experiences.

Inspired by their own experiences as parents, the couple recognized a need for a local environment that blended education with play. Rather than creating a traditional classroom setting, they envisioned a place where curiosity could flourish through exploration, creativity and interactive learning.

The facility incorporates STEAM principles — Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics — while encouraging children to learn through play. From robotics and music to future workshops involving engineering, art, chess and other enrichment activities, the goal is to inspire curiosity and help children discover new interests.

Elizabeth explained that many children never receive exposure to certain opportunities simply because the resources are not available. Buds Play & Learn aims to bridge that gap by creating a welcoming environment where children and families can learn together while having fun.

During my visit, it was clear that a great deal of thought and investment has gone into the facility. The space is bright, engaging and designed to encourage exploration. It is a wonderful addition to Emery Village and a business that reflects the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of our community.
