Lucio Vitale is expanding his reach, and bringing you the high quality traditional Italian fare you’ve come to expect, a little bit faster.

“I still follow the same ingredient traditions from my famous restaurant –Il Lupo, just now in a smaller scale,“ he said.

Emery Village didn’t have a good Panini option, Vitale said, and while he knew his first eatery was offering the best of traditional Italian food, he knows his people, and fans of his food, can require a faster meal every now and then. And he didn’t want them sacrificing quality for speed.

So, he is celebrating the opening of Il Panino, at 70 Plunkett Road.

“It’s more of a gourmet fast food,” Vitale said.

All the favourites are on the menu, including Chicken sandwiches, lasagna, veal, gnocchi and more.

“More or less what I was doing, but quicker service.”

Vitale has been in Emery, serving the food he is famously known for since 1972, and is proud to bring his second option to the very streets he grew up on.

“My dad had a café next door,” he smiled. “I got old here” he says with a smile and a wink. Luckily for the residents of Emery Village, the great Italian tradition continues!

Il Panino is open six days a week, and is exploring opening on Sundays.

The shop can be found at 70 Plunkett Road or reached at 647-341-6141.
