Joseph Anu and his family have made Emery Village their home for six years. Their love for their community and an eye for its opportunity has led them to move their high-quality dry-cleaning service to Weston Road—3455 Weston Road, to be exact.
Anu has a background in accounting and finance. However, he explained that his family has been in the dry-cleaning business for generations. So, in 2013, he changed his career path and opened his first shop. After six years of living in Emery Village, his family opened A&M Executive Cleaners on Weston Road just two years ago.
“We offer a couple of services,” Anu said. “Our main service is dry cleaning, but we do alterations, clean sneakers, and area rugs, and have another business in our complex where we cut hair as a salon.”
Anu said his customers can trust his business. His family has been in the dry-cleaning industry for a long time and is constantly working to contribute to the industry itself.
“We are transforming it in the way that we provide high-end dry cleaning for the lowest cost because of the efficiency of the machines we use,” he said. “These machines cost us less, so we transfer that savings onto our customers.”
And regarding what A&M can clean for you, Anu said they pride themselves on cleaning almost everything within your home.
“Yes, we clean everything in the home except your body,” Anu said. “From clothes and suits to jackets, hats, sneakers, area rugs, duvets, pillow covers, drapes, everything in the home.”
And recently, the COVID pandemic has led to some innovation that has added to their present-day service. During the pandemic, the business established a mobile service that has now guaranteed a three-day turnaround on most dry cleaning.
However, Anu did want to advise customers that more oversized items would take longer to get to them. Area rugs can take at least 10 days, while jackets and other clothing items with unique or heavier materials may take a few days longer.
As far as when to visit your dry cleaner for those items of clothing that you won’t necessarily regularly clean, Anu recommends going with the seasons.
“As soon as the season changes, we will take out the clothes for the season and pack away those from the past season. So, we recommend looking at cleaning both. You will want your new season’s clothes to be clean and fresh, and you will want to pack away your clothes clean and fresh.”
